G. Derek Weiss, MD
A skilled and extensively trained surgeon, Dr. Weiss graduated with honors from Ivy League Dartmouth College and finished in the top 10 percent of his class at the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
He completed his surgical training at the prestigious Emory University surgery program in Atlanta.

Dr. Weiss, a Louisville native, is a member of many professional health and surgical organizations. Keeping patient safety and comfort in mind, Dr. Weiss has dedicated his practice entirely to performing 100 percent laparoscopic bariatric surgery, a minimally invasive method proven to have fewer complications than traditional “open” bariatric surgical procedures.

John Oldham, MD, Jr.
Dr. Oldham is a talented surgeon devoted to providing his patients with the most modern and professional care. He earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and completed his general surgery residency at the notable Wright State University in Dayton.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Dr. Oldham practiced privately for three years in Central Kentucky before concentrating his advanced laparoscopic skills on bariatric surgery.

Dr. Oldham, an Owensboro, Kentucky native, is a member of numerous respectable professional societies including the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, Kentucky Medical Association, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons.

Lyudmila Pupkova, MD

Board-certified surgeon Lyudmila Pupkova, MD, has joined the surgical team at the ARH Bariatrics Center.

Dr. Pupkova is now performing all forms of bariatric surgery as well as general surgical procedures. She has also begun leading the monthly informational seminars and support groups for the Bariatrics Center.

Originally from Russia, Dr. Pupkova has performed more than 2,000 laparoscopic bariatric surgeries.

She most recently was the medical director of the bariatric surgery program at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah and spent several years with the Absolute Bariatric Surgery group at hospitals in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
